TITLE 1.81.26 of the California Civil Code on Security of Connected Devices (“California IoT law”) is codified in Cal. Civ. Code Sec. 798.91.04, 798.91.05 and 798.91.06. It requires manufacturers of connected devices “to equip the device with a reasonable security feature or features that are appropriate to the nature and function of the device, appropriate to the information it may collect, contain, or transmit, and designed to protect the device and any information contained therein from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure, as specified.”
